Sentinel Procurement Solutions Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The Company will prioritise direct emissions reduction, operational efficiency and active engagement with third-party supply chain partners before considering the responsible treatment of residual emissions.
Sentinel Procurement Solutions Ltd recognises that its influence extends beyond its own operations. The Company will therefore address both its direct operational footprint and the material emissions associated with suppliers and partners delivering food, consumables, packaging, distribution and related services.
Organisational Boundary and Reporting Approach
This Carbon Reduction Plan applies to the UK operations of Sentinel Procurement Solutions Ltd. Greenhouse gas emissions will be reported in tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e), using an appropriate and consistently applied calculation methodology and current UK Government conversion factors.
- Scope 1: direct emissions from sources owned or controlled by Sentinel Procurement Solutions.
- Scope 2: indirect emissions from purchased electricity, heat, steam or cooling used by Sentinel Procurement Solutions.
- Scope 3: relevant indirect emissions arising from the Company’s activities and value chain, including business travel, employee commuting, home working, waste and material supply chain activities where data is available.
Baseline Emissions Footprint
As Sentinel Procurement Solutions Ltd commenced trading in 2025, this Carbon Reduction Plan uses the company’s first available period of operational data as its initial baseline. The figures represent the best information reasonably available at the date of publication and include documented estimates where complete primary data was not available. The baseline will be reviewed and refined as supplier, landlord, travel and other activity data becomes available. Any material revisions will be clearly identified in the next annual update.
Initial reporting period: July 2025 to April 2026, representing the first available trading period following establishment of the company.
The initial baseline has been calculated using the best operational information reasonably available to Sentinel Procurement Solutions Ltd. This includes recorded business mileage and travel information, workforce and commuting information, estimated electricity attributable to occupied workspace, and available information relating to waste and relevant transportation activities. UK Government greenhouse gas conversion factors applicable to the calculation period have been used.
Where primary information was unavailable, reasonable estimates and documented assumptions were applied. These estimates will be replaced with primary data where this becomes available. No independent external verification has been undertaken.

Current Carbon Reduction Measures
Digital working
- Cloud-based document management and collaboration.
- Electronic signatures, digital approvals and paperless client reporting where practicable.
- Remote meetings where these can replace unnecessary journeys.
Travel and energy
- Business travel only where there is a clear operational need.
- Efficient scheduling of visits and preference for lower-carbon travel options where practicable.
- Energy-efficient IT equipment and responsible power-management settings.
Procurement
- Environmental considerations incorporated proportionately into supplier selection and review.
- Preference for reduced reusable or recyclable packaging where operationally suitable.
- Engagement with suppliers on waste, delivery efficiency and carbon reporting.
Third-Party Supply Chain Partners
Sentinel Procurement Solutions recognises that material value-chain emissions may arise from third-party manufacturers, food producers, distributors, wholesalers, logistics providers and suppliers of consumables and packaging. Although these emissions are not under the Company’s direct operational control, Sentinel Procurement Solutions Ltd will use procurement, supplier assurance and collaborative improvement processes to influence reductions.
Partner expectations
- Maintain an environmental policy or equivalent documented commitment proportionate to the size and nature of the supplier.
- Measure material greenhouse gas emissions and establish a Carbon Reduction Plan or equivalent programme where proportionate.
- Provide relevant emissions, delivery, packaging and waste data when reasonably requested.
- Optimise delivery routes, vehicle utilisation and delivery frequency, while maintaining food safety, product integrity and service continuity.
- Reduce avoidable food waste and consumables waste and support redistribution, reuse, recycling or recovery in line with the waste hierarchy.
- Reduce unnecessary packaging and increase recyclable, reusable or recycled-content materials where technically and legally suitable.
- Engage constructively in corrective actions and continuous-improvement initiatives.
Supplier assessment and monitoring
Environmental requirements will be applied proportionately, taking account of supplier size, category risk, contract value, operational significance and the availability of reliable data. Carbon performance will be considered alongside food safety, legality, quality, service, ethical sourcing, resilience and value for money. Carbon requirements will not override essential food safety or product-protection controls.
Measurable Supply Chain Targets
The following initial targets are management targets adopted by Sentinel Procurement Solutions Ltd. They are designed to create measurable progress while the 2026 – 2027 supply-chain baseline is established. Percentage-based emissions reduction targets will be rebased if material changes in organisational boundary, methodology, acquisition, supplier mix or available data make direct comparison misleading.

Measurement, Governance and Review
The COO is accountable for approval of this plan and oversight of progress. Emissions and target performance will be reviewed at least annually. Results will distinguish measured supplier data from modelled or spend-based estimates. Calculation methods, factors, exclusions, assumptions and material data gaps will be documented.
Priority will be given to improving primary data for the highest-emitting or highest-spend supply chain categories.
Where targets are missed, a documented corrective action or revised delivery plan will be agreed. The published plan will be updated annually and following material changes to the business or reporting boundary.
Carbon Reduction Projects
Planned projects include the introduction of a supplier sustainability questionnaire; annual segmentation of strategic suppliers; collection of delivery, packaging and waste data; consolidated delivery reviews; promotion of lower-emission logistics; paperless assurance and reporting; and collaborative reduction plans for priority food and consumables categories.
Declaration and Sign-Off
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been prepared by Sentinel Procurement Solutions Ltd and reflects the Company’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions across its own operations and relevant third-party supply chain activities.
The plan will be reviewed and updated annually. The initial baseline and subsequent reporting-year emissions will be reviewed and updated as additional activity data is collected and validated. Any material changes to the baseline, methodology or reporting boundary will be explained in the next published update.
